AGE REQUIREMENTS: TEEN: Contestant must be at least thirteen (13) years of age on the first day of the *State competition. MISS: A contestant cannot be older than (25) years of age on December 31st the year she could be chosen to represent her state in the National Finals. In order to meet age eligibility requirements to compete in local competitions for the 2019 state competition, a contestant must be t least 17 years of age and her birth year can be no earlier than 1994. To be eligible to compete in the miss or teen pageants you must reside in; or be enrolled in and physically attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited college or university in; or be employed in on a full-time basis in the following Arkansas counties listed above.
NEW RULE for backstage dressing rooms: Only contestants are allowed backstage. Once you arrive, your parent or friend (1) may help you load in all your clothing to the dressing room, but will not be able to return until after winners have been announced!
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE Rehearsal - Saturday morning at 9:00am at Van Buren Fine Arts Center - Van Buren, AR (Next to the high school) Teen and Miss Interviews starting at 1:00pm at the same location. Pageant - 7:00pm Admission: $10 adults, $5 children (5-15)
REHEARSAL We will rehearse all phases of competition. Bring your competition shoes and music on cd labeled with # of track you will be using and your walking shoes! You may wear rollers to rehearsal, come comfortable and bring a light jacket, the auditorium does get chilly!

SPONSORSHIP FEE (Local entry fee) FOR MISS & TEEN CONTESTANTS Teen and Miss contestants are required to secure a sponsor for $100. This can be a business, family members, parent or friend, anyone willing to sponsorship. Due at time of entry.
CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK REQUIREMENT (FOR MISS CONTESTANTS ONLY) You must have confirmation of $100 raised for the Children’s Miracle Network, Miss America’s National Platform. You must set up a web account at www.missamerica4kids.org. At that website go to the “New Contestants” link if you do not already have an active account. This must be done by December 5th, or you will not be eligible to compete in the pageant. This is a national rule and we have to abide by it. You must choose to compete in: Miss Arkansas River on the CMN website. Do not wait on this to send in your entry.
TALENT MUSIC FOR TEEN AND MISS CONTESTANTS The talent number can not be longer than 90 seconds. Please bring a CD for your talent. Label cd with name, contestant number (given at rehearsal) and track #. Remember to pick up your cd at the end of the night.

Scoring Chart for Teen: Talent 35% - Private Interview 25% - Evening Wear/On-stage Question 25%- Lifestyle and Fitness in Active Wear 15%.
*INTERVIEW –No business type suits; teen appropriate and trendy (dress, skirt and top, pant suit, TRENDY WEAR) Interviews will be 6 minutes with no opening and no formal closing. Miss interviews will be 10 minutes, at 9 minutes, 30 seconds you will be given a warning and you have 30 seconds to give a closing statement.
FITNESS/ACTIVE WEAR: Teens will wear stretch shorts and sports bra style tops, any style of top. *Miss will compete in swimwear (1 or 2 pc is acceptable)
*ONSTAGE QUESTION: Questions will be real word, not platform related.
TALENT: 90 seconds! You will be deducted for being over the time limit. Props are ok but not suggested.
